When shipping your item in for repair, please enclose a purchase order or packing list. This document should include your company name, address, telephone and fax numbers (email address if available); an itemized list of units to be serviced and any special handling instructions. When we receive your package, all items are carefully unpacked and inspected for freight damage. At this time we also check your shipping document(s) to verify accuracy. You will be notified immediately in case of any damages or discrepancies. ESS Automation accepts no responsibility for incoming shipping damage or discrepancies in shipments that we receive. All packages ship to 1318 Ramseur Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
Inspect every item upon receipt. If shipping damage is evident, immediately notify ESS Automation or your area salesperson and the shipping carrier. Unless otherwise specified, all repaired items will be returned by UPS or the area salesperson. You can specify a certain service such as Next Day, Second Day Air, etc. at additional cost.
If your procedure requires that items must be quoted and approved before repairs are made, please mark "QUOTE BEFORE REPAIRING" on your packing slip. A request for Quote Approval will be faxed to you at this time. It needs to be returned to us as soon as possible so that unnecessary delays will not occur. There is usually no charge for any quotation. If an item is left at our shop for a period of more than 60 days without any response from you we will return the item to you. If your item is not listed in our repair catalog(s) we will be happy to quote repair costs for the item.
If we test an item that you have authorized us to repair and we find no problem with the unit, we will only charge a bench testing fee for this service. The price will vary on this service depending on the complexity of the item. If you send an item that you feel is possibly good and you only need it tested, we will charge only the bench test fee. If the unit is determined to have a problem, you will be contacted with a repair quote for approval prior to any further work being done. However, the 'Test Only' charge still apply regardless. For this service please mark your packing slip "For Test Only".
On an average all repairs are made within 14 working days or less. However, if parts for your item are not in stock then the item will be repaired when the parts arrive at our location. If there is a problem obtaining parts within a reasonable period of time, you will be contacted and informed of the status of the item.
You may order a Rush or Emergency Repair Service to ensure that your item is serviced immediately. These items are expedited ahead of all other items. Our rate for this service starts at $50.00 per line item in addition to normal repair and shipping costs. To order this service specify "RUSH" or "EMERGENCY REPAIR" on your packing slip or contact customer service.
Items that have been repaired by ESS Automation carry a 3-month limited warranty on printed circuit boards and complete control systems. Reconditioned items carry a 6-month warranty on circuit boards and complete control systems. The original repair sticker must be on the item when returning it for warranty repair. If the repair sticker is removed the warranty is void.
Without limitation, the above warranty shall not apply to items that fail due to misapplication; operation above rated capacities; negligence; abuse; improper storage, handling, or installation; abnormal condition of temperature, moisture, dirt, chemicals, corrosive matter; items that have been tampered with, repaired or altered in any way whatsoever except by authorized personnel of ESS Automation, or by act of God.
Except as specifically set forth above, ESS Automation makes no other warranties expressed or implied with respect to parts or equipment it services or warranties or fitness of any product for a particular purpose. Return Freight charges for warranty repairs will be at no charge to you for regular UPS ground service or by one of our sales representatives.
These items are used equipment that have been reconditioned. We stock reconditioned products from a large number of OEM's. All reconditioned items are cleaned and any aged components replaced. They are packaged in antistatic packing. See the Warranty Section above for warranty information.
For items that we are not currently repaired at our location, we offer a service that will send your item to a qualified vendor at a very competitive price.
We are happy to provide field service in your plant anywhere in the USA for an item manufactured by ESS Automation We also offer field service in your plant anywhere in the Southeastern USA for items not manufactured by ESS. For items not manufactured by ESS Automation there could be a possibility that once the problem is found we would have to bring the item in for an in-house repair and return it to your location for installation.
